A tall tree was integrated in the deck, remaining as a reminder of nature`s power over mankind. Luxurious features make this home a relaxing and comfortable living fantasy. It also has a pool bar and water seems to be a strong element seen all around the house. Although the interiors have a unique charm, the architects concentrated on making the outside the main living area: a place to enjoy the surroundings, the beach, the water and the sun.

Casa Son Vida by tecArchitecture in Mallorca, Spain

Casa Son Vida is probably not what is generally expected from a home, but is definitely what is expected of Mallorca, Spain: an 8,500 square foot white giant that has transcended the status of a Mediterranean villa. The white cluster of 3 main volumes flows from a rigid wing toward a fluid organically shaped part.

The fabulous design fringes fiction, making generous use of what architectural theorists would call “the postmodernist ornament”. Seemingly organized chaos, the house relates to nothing, at first glance. The patio and pool are made of intertwining planes and podiums, accessed from the house through a grand staircase and banister in the shape of ribs, which, after careful consideration, reminds of Calatrava’s constructions.
The out-buildings by the pool are covered with cartoon-like depictions of fishes, possibly reminding of the Disney Swan and Dolphin Resort. The serenely elegant interior is every here and there lined with a fun and unexpected detail, relating the guest to Alice in Wonderland. The villa, a cooperation of Cosmopolitan Estates, Dutch designer Marcel Wanders and tecArchitecture blends the vision, the irony, probably the angst, surely the sense of humor and the expertise of its creators to make up a house completely out of the ordinary.

But is not just the spacious backyard that makes life here a constant vacation. The sleek and refreshing pool promises a cool dip every time things become a bit too hot to handle while a plethora of activities await you thanks to the mini-golf green, paddle-tennis court and the bocce ball court. Yup, this is pretty much like opening your backyard door and walking into a vacation at a cool resort.
The home itself looks lovely with balanced use of glass, concrete and wood on the outside. This gives its residents sufficient privacy, while also extending the interiors beyond the four walls and connecting it to the outdoors with smart the use of floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The two acre property also features solar panels, gray water management systems which are clubbed with eclectic interiors and curvy antiques to create a home that fits the taste of its owners. If you are looking for some deck inspiration, then you’ve come to the right place.

There is no such thing as a “typical” deck. Every living space has its own unique style, shape and purpose. For example, some homeowners may be looking for a small deck – something just slightly larger than a balcony – that’s big enough for a grill or perhaps a small cafĂ© table and chairs. Others may be looking for a multi-tiered party deck large enough for a tables, lounge chairs and perhaps a Jacuzzi.

If you’re looking for a distinctive design, consider a round deck – place a fire pit in the middle and a rounded bench that’s perfect for a chilly autumn evening or a snowy winter day. Other methods of adding a personal touch could be to install planters for an herb garden, a small gazebo or interestingly shaped railing. Your deck can extend in layers out further and further into your back yard, or wrap around the side of your home for additional space.

A successful deck design is one that serves many functions. For example, your deck could include a shaded space for reclining with a good book or outdoor countertops around the grill to assist with your cooking needs. No matter what, you deck should be a place that’s designed just for you.
